This assignment was broad and short studio lighting. Broad and short are both more lit and they are set up with your model facing away from the camera. I had fun with trying different poses and different models, but Chelce was my favorite!

This assignment was to take photos using the various techniques of natural light. I think my favorites were all the ones I used with backlighting, as I think it makes a really nice and interesting effect. We also took photos with catchlights, which are the natural reflections in the eye that show that the picture was taken outside.
So, this blog isn't about photos I took. Well, actually, it kind of is. Today, we'll be talking about how to take photos with different versions of natural light!
What is "Natural Light"? Natural light is light that is natural. This light comes from the sun, and can be used for a good effect in photos. Natural light gives a much softer look to your photo when taken at the right times, and a sharp contrast at the right times. While artificial light may be what you want or what you're used to, try out natural light, you might be surprised. Tips and Tricks: For taking photos with natural light, first you need to know what you want. Do you want a picture with diffused light where the light source is everywhere, or do you want direct sunlight? Maybe a backlit photo? Decide what you want first, and the emotion you want to convey in the photo. A high contrast photo might convey excitement, while a softer picture may invoke another emotion. A picture lit from the back could have a more dramatic, shadowed effect. The time of day matters a lot with taking pictures. Early in the morning or late in the evening are considered ideal times, as the sun gives off softer light and creates softer shadows. High noon isn't ideal, but if that's the look you want, go for it. I recommend taking pictures in natural light with a variety of different angles. If you're taking a backlit photo, taking the picture from below your subject is generally considered ideal, which a normally lit photo should be taken from a bit above or below eye level. In conclusion, natural light is an excellent tool that can be used at any time to light your photos in tons of different and creative ways. That's really all I have for you today. Happy snapping! Information source: https://expertphotography.com/natural-light-photography/ Our assignment this time was to take photos of ink dropping into water by adjusting our shutter speed.. The color was made from paint, and I think this was a good choice because paint spreads easily in water.. Some issues I had were mixing the right colors together, and I just did different combinations until I found one I liked. The settings on my camera were 1/100 shutter speed and 400 ISO.
This assignment was to take a book with a face on the cover and match it to someone else's face. This proved difficult, because with perspective and the like it's very hard to match up with some odd angles. I think my favorite is the second one, because it came out really funny looking..
This assignment was to take pictures of three different things - glass, toys, and free choice. for the free choice, I chose paint bottles. The hardest part of this assignment was trying to keep the camera still enough that the pictures didn't move.
This assignment was about taking things from extreme angles. I had difficulty getting interesting angles that would make my photos stand out, but laying on the ground gives you a surprisingly good photo.
This assignment was to take different photos with a blurred background. I faced some difficulty with getting a background that wasn't busy or distracting. I fixed this issue using Photoshop and adjustments on the photos.
This assignment was to take twelve specific photos of twelve specific things:
Pattern Reflection/Shadow Flower/Plant/Tree Inspiring Quote/Word Student Reading School Colors American Flag Something Red Hands and/or Feet Mustang Something Round Winter Themed My personal favorite of my twelve photos was the something red photo, or "Crimson Bun". I think the red stands out and looks really cool against the background of natural colors. The bright red bun in Michelle's hair catches your eye and keeps it focused there. |
